Jamie and I grew up together spending our summers at our campground in Wisconsin when we were kids.  We didn't live far from each other in real life either. 

I was beyond excited when she asked me to photograph her family this fall at Cantigny in Wheaton.  I'm a little behind on my blogging, since it's obviously now December and all, but I just had to brag about what a beautiful family they are.

Jamie and Michael are just the cutest couple... and Jamie?  She is even more beautiful than she was when we were kids.  I was always mega jealous because the boys were always swooning whenever she was near :o)

It had been years since we had seen each other, but it's almost like not even a minute had passed... and of course I had my head full of all kinds of unfinished conversations on my drive home.  We ended our session with a "to be continued" that I'm really looking forward to.

Devan was the sweetest little boy, and Michael's mom, Mary, joined us for the session as well since she was visiting from out of state.  I'll tell you what...  Devan sure loves his grandma, and I think she kind likes him too ;o)

Meet the Harris Family | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

I met Megan and her family through a mutual friend.  (You might remember the Merlin's from earlier this year?)  They live all the way up north in Algonquin, but we were able to set up an afternoon session at the Morton Arboretum this fall before the weather got too cold.  It was actually kind of warm this day and it was perfect for photos.  I just love the colors Megan chose for the family to wear.  They just pop off the screen in this session!

The kids were awesome, even though I think I dragged the session out a little longer than they would have liked.  Their mom promised them a candy apple when we were done, and I'm pretty sure their minds were on that payout all throughout the session.  They were so good, despite being tempted with all the fun things to do there... all while waiting for their sweet treat ;o)  Way better than my own kids would have been!

The Harris family is a picture perfect family and I loved spending the day with them at The Morton Arboretum! It is definitely on my list of favorite locations for photography sessions!

The Thomas Family | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

I met Zorina and LaVon several years ago when I was still pregnant with my 5th child.  It was the dead of winter, and we were on the hunt for a new place for them to call home.  Ariel was just a tiny little thing and Prince was barely a toddler.

Flash forward 3 years... and I could hardly believe my eyes when the little girl that I had remembered had been replaced by a stunning young lady, and the toddler I had expected to see hop out of the car, had been transformed into a handsome little man.  And as much as some things change, others stay the same... there was me, 7 months pregnant again, just like old times!

The Thomas's have since moved from the area in anticipation of relocating to D.C. where LaVon now works, but they were in town last weekend and caught up with me at Phillips Park in Aurora.  I love this park... AND this beautiful family.  Can't wait until you return back to the Midwest someday!

Lucy and Lola | Plainfield Children's Photography

I'd still think they were two of the cutest little girls on the planet... even if they weren't my nieces :o)

The thing you have to understand about my niece Lucy is that for the 50% of the time she loves me, the flip side to that affection is met with something less than adoration.  It's okay though because she totally informs me of when she likes me, and she's sure to make certain that I know when I'm not in her good graces.  She is a girl that knows what she wants and I wouldn't take her any other way.  Luckily for me, we were sooooo BFF during their photo session. She posed like a Toddlers and Tiara's diva.  (and well... maybe there was an ice-cream cone for her from Tate's Ice Cream Parlor at the end of it too :o)

Lola, on the other hand, is my little zombie loving buddy.  Well, I mean she loves to hate them, but either way she can't get enough of her obsession.  The kid just turned two and had a zombie themed birthday party... she's totally hard core.

It wasn't hard to pick Adam's Park in Wheaton again after my session with little blue eyed Liam early last month. I love that place!  So much so, that I'll be there again this weekend with the Zapata family.  The locals are going to think I'm some crazy pigeon-like lady if they see me hanging out there every weekend!

I'm also looking forward to another session I have booked for next weekend at Cantigny in Wheaton with the Kinsella family.  The colors are starting to change and it will probably be beautiful there next weekend.  Fall photo sessions are such a great way to capture the family!  Gahhhh, I love what I do!  AND I love these two girlies:

Luke & Jack | Plainfield IL Photography

I could have scooped Luke up, and kept him forever.  He's not only insanely adorable, but he's also the kindest little soul.  His brother Jack wasn't feelin' me quite as much, but then again he is just 2.  I've learned a few valuable lessons this week about  1 to 2 year olds... they do not love being photographed, and bringing them to the park, to run in big open fields, well I guess it's not any wonder why I've been catching more of the backs of heads and working hard for those smiles!  

And Jack didn't even have to smile to be stunning.  He really is a beautiful child:

And Luke... Oh, I could just chew on those cheeks all day!  He seriously has the sweetest personality.  He's just such a nice little boy, and he was so great at doing exactly what I asked him to do for his portraits.  He also trusted me to hold onto his prized possessions while he posed for me... I was honored to be asked to hold onto his trains, even if it was only momentarily. 

I'm not even done editing their session, but I couldn't wait to blog my favorite photos of them so far.  I wasn't able to get any of the boys together because Jack was definitely on a mission to see, and do, everything at the park yesterday afternoon... but that doesn't mean that I can't merge both of them into one photo with a template and make it work, until next year... when Jack isn't 2 anymore :o)

Party of Six | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

We'll since it hasn't been 4 months since the last time I blogged a photo session, I'm going to pat myself on the back for being consistent!  How could I stay away though when I have such a beautiful family to blog about?

I went to high school with the amazing mom of these six BEAUTIFUL children, and I take great notice to the fact that she is always so put together since I will soon be the mom to 6 myself.  She does it all, and I don't know how she does it.  These kids are some pretty amazing, well behaved kids, and while their mom might argue that this is not the norm, I just have to say as a parent, if they behave when it matters... you are doing your job!  

I don't know if it was a matter of routine, or just my lucky day, but for every new setting, all of the kids just fell in line.  Posing them was almost effortless... even with the littlest Belofsky, who was such a little doll.

What a beautiful family!  Thank you to all of the Belofsky kids and their mom for such a fun session, and thank you so much for allowing me to capture your family through my lens!
