Meet the Harris Family | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

I met Megan and her family through a mutual friend.  (You might remember the Merlin's from earlier this year?)  They live all the way up north in Algonquin, but we were able to set up an afternoon session at the Morton Arboretum this fall before the weather got too cold.  It was actually kind of warm this day and it was perfect for photos.  I just love the colors Megan chose for the family to wear.  They just pop off the screen in this session!

The kids were awesome, even though I think I dragged the session out a little longer than they would have liked.  Their mom promised them a candy apple when we were done, and I'm pretty sure their minds were on that payout all throughout the session.  They were so good, despite being tempted with all the fun things to do there... all while waiting for their sweet treat ;o)  Way better than my own kids would have been!

The Harris family is a picture perfect family and I loved spending the day with them at The Morton Arboretum! It is definitely on my list of favorite locations for photography sessions!

The Oglesby's | Plainfield IL Family Photography

There are tons of crazy coincidences that have come up over the years that I've known this adorable family, definitely way too many to count, but I first met Ron at the last salon I worked at here in Plainfield before I decided to work from home.  Since then I have been their family hairstylist, their Realtor... and their photographer! 

Ron and Dina are pretty perfect for each other, and their daughter Maddie is such a sweet, polite, and beautiful little girl.  It made photographing them almost effortless.  I started laughing when we were scoping out the scenery at Inwood Park in Joliet for the best places to use as a backdrop when Ron exclaimed, "no man made structures."  We found the best little area along the side of the park with large piled up branches and logs that made the perfect un"man-made" benches!  I did coax them over the the beautiful gazebo and bridge at the other side of the park though, lol.  The photographer in me just simply could not resist ;o)

I'm so glad to know this family and lucky to have so many reasons to keep in touch!  Aren't they adorable?

Kristen and Dan... and family! | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

I talked to Kristen on the phone a few times before our session so I knew when I met her she was going to be equally as adorable as she was on the phone... and I was right.  We are both pregnant and due about the same time and she warned me that she didn't like to be photographed.  I seriously wish I looked as cute as she did that day!  Her husband Dan got the kids ready for the session, and I think it's so awesome that he pulled it all together so well while Kristen was at work!  I love him to death, but I'm not 100% sure I'd put Tony in charge of dressing the kids for a family photo session without my help ;o)

They were dressed to the nine's and the colors they were wearing just popped on camera.  It was still a little windy that day from the gusty winds that had canceled two of my sessions earlier in the weekend, but it was pretty calm later that afternoon when we met up at Philips Park in Aurora. 

Poor little Jay was not feeling good but he was still so sweet and followed all of my directions, which is probably the last thing he wanted to do that day.  Beautiful Miss Thea filled in gaps for the space where Jay's enthusiasm for the days event was lacking.  She was one well accessorized little lady!  I just LOVED editing this session and have so many favorites from the afternoon that I could not narrow it down to just a few...

I probably post way too many photos from each session on this blog, but I can't help it, I'm so lucky to have all these beautiful faces and gorgeous families to work with!

The Thomas Family | Plainfield IL Family Photographer

I met Zorina and LaVon several years ago when I was still pregnant with my 5th child.  It was the dead of winter, and we were on the hunt for a new place for them to call home.  Ariel was just a tiny little thing and Prince was barely a toddler.

Flash forward 3 years... and I could hardly believe my eyes when the little girl that I had remembered had been replaced by a stunning young lady, and the toddler I had expected to see hop out of the car, had been transformed into a handsome little man.  And as much as some things change, others stay the same... there was me, 7 months pregnant again, just like old times!

The Thomas's have since moved from the area in anticipation of relocating to D.C. where LaVon now works, but they were in town last weekend and caught up with me at Phillips Park in Aurora.  I love this park... AND this beautiful family.  Can't wait until you return back to the Midwest someday!

The Zapata Family | Plainfield Family Photography

I have a ton of catching up to do!  I've been busy finishing up the sports season with the kids, and booked with TONS of photo sessions so I'm just catching up on some editing... oh this poor neglected blog!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce you to the beautiful Zapata family.  I met Carrie back in junior high and thanks again to social media was lucky enough to reconnect with her a few years ago.  (gotta love Facebook... even though they won't quit making annoying changes to it every 4 weeks!)

Carrie and her husband Carlos are two of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.  They are really that nice and that thoughtful.  Even though they were one of the winners of one of my giveaways this spring, they insisted on giving me a very generous gift card to The Cheesecake Factory.  See, they are the most thoughtful couple ever!  (Thanks again Carrie!  Anytime this momma doesn't have to cook is a good night!)

Cameryn, Luke and Mia were so awesome to work with.  They were so well behaved and polite, and they did exactly what I asked them to do.  DREAM clients!  Honestly, you never know what you are going to be up against with the littles. 

So grateful for these beautiful images to add to my portfolio, and so thankful to have Carrie as a friend!

Henry, Charlie, and Josephine | Plainfield Family Photography

One of the biggest perks of being a photographer is all of the great people I get to see and spend time with.  Especially when those people are old friends that I have been able to reconnect within the last few months!

Katie and I were old friends from when we just teenagers. We met through a mutual friend from my summer home in Wisconsin when we were only in high school.  We logged countless long-distance hours on the phone when we were teens.  Without ever any reason, time passed and the phone calls were fewer and farther between until one day they just stopped.  We found each other again through social media a few months ago on Facebook.  I was so excited to find out that instead of an hour and a half away... she's now within a 30 minute drive! I was even more excited when she asked me to photograph her 2 year old twins, Henry and Charlie, and her newborn daughter JoJo as a surprise for her husbands birthday. 

They were the sweetest little boys!  I was showered with tons of hugs and gigantic smiles.  And baby JoJo... oh that sweet little baby!  Not so much as a peep from this little angel, and I couldn't keep myself from getting excited about meeting my own baby girl in a few short weeks.
